Our purpose is to:

Bring global perspective to our institutions.

Be a conduit to educate, train, and mentor Volunteer Professionals.

Promote the recognition of Directors, Managers, and Coordinators of Volunteer Services as professionals.

Provide networking opportunities linking members of MDHDVS with related Healthcare professionals and other professional organizations.

Assist with compliance issues (The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other entities) through the use of volunteer resources, thus making a significant impact on quality patient care throughout the state of Maryland.

Validate issues and challenges within the healthcare volunteer management profession and to utilize resources to network for solutions.

Empower others to discover the benefits of volunteerism.

Impact the community through the dissemination of information; including hospital quality care, healthcare public policy issues, hospital compliance with accreditation organizations, and other topics vital to healthcare and volunteer services.
